Okay now this is where art meets copywriting. We want the site to look beautiful. But we want to make sure that each photo aligns with our copywriting story.
And then we want a video that really tells the whole story of our brand and makes people feel like they need to get more information right now.
But photos and videos are also the most expensive part of this whole thing. The copywriting and shot list can be done by a person on their computer, sitting anywhere in the world. But when you want to get real photos, like you should if you're a serious professional, you're going to need to hire a photographer and get some models or be the photographer yourself and ask your friends to be your models.
But one way or the other it requires coordination and physically gathering in a space and it takes some time. I don't know if you've ever been on a video shoot before but they take forever to get right and they're not fun.
But they are super important. That's why having really good copywriting and messaging that is congruent throughout your materials can streamline your photography and video production needs.
For me I like to write it all down and then schedule it for a one-day shoot. We do the location planning, plan out all of our shots, make checklists, and make sure that we have all of our wardrobe and props ready before we go out there.
Then on the day of the shoot you have your videographer. You have one person directing everything to make sure you're getting all your shots and then you have your people who are acting. Sometimes you can get it so one person is doing it all. You set up a camera, you do the shoot yourself with a timer on the camera, and then you check it out to make sure you got it.
But if it's a more complicated scene with multiple people, it's going to be better to have your videographer plus a director handling everything.
So this sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but this is where everything comes together. A great video will make all the difference on your Instagram and Facebook ads, and it will also greatly help people to understand why they should purchase from you if they came from a Google search ad.
I have seen many, many videos and many photo shoots and so I know how to organize them to get them done effectively. More importantly I know how to write scripts that will sell.
